Congratulations to Kenny and crew as they won the IHRA Spring Nationals this past weekend in Rockingham, North Carolina. Good to see the Canadian Moose making tracks way down south!

Here's a recently completed job for a local excavating company. When Wayne Watson of Wayne Watson Excavating bought this new Volvo VHD last year we just had to come up with something for it. From the factory the truck was nice but terribly plain and the available graphics from Volvo were brutal to say the least as is the case with most factory offerings. This truck is now one of a kind and should turn a few heads. I think the price of gravel just went up though.

What's almost as cool as cars? Big trucks of course! In between motorsport projects ID does custom design for Putzmeister America out of Sturtevant, Wisconsin. Putzmeister America specializes in concrete and material placing equipment. Most of the work for them is concrete pumper graphic design. Everything is designed and laid out to scale here and then production and installation takes place in the Wisconsin plant. Thanks to them, there are examples of my work all over North America including Alaska and Hawaii.

Just another sample of the accuracy and detail of digital design from ID Motorsport Design! Stay tuned for more concrete pumpers in the future.

I got my start years ago in design in the sign industry. Although I soon decided it was not the kind of thing I wanted to do full time, I still enjoy designing and producing specialty signage.

After designing the logo for the Iron Garage we talked about some unique signage for their showroom. As a dealer of fine musclecars and hot rods, they wanted something slick and shiny so I came up with this design. The sign itself is 7 feet wide by 4 feet high. I started by having the large black background water jet cut out of 1/4" aluminum. I then had it powder coated black and then routered the edge making the raw aluminum edge all the way around. The sign is mounted to the wall on a frame that stands off 6 inches from the wall. The large black plate is bolted to the frame and all of the mounting hardware is hidden behind the shiny "swooshes" in the logo which are separate peices of water jet cut, polished 1/4" aluminum. The remainder of the sign is done in printed vinyl.

The result, a three dimensional depiction of the logo that appears to be floating in front of the wall. A great backdrop for the hot rods of the Iron Garage. If you're in the market for some fine "Iron", be sure to check out the Iron Garage. You can also witness some ID Motorsport Design web design there as well.

When Bruce Biegler from Drag Race Canada approached me about designing a logo for his new apparel line I said "no problem". When he said he wanted me to create a "fast moose", I laughed. Somehow the idea of making a moose appear to be nitro fueled initially seemed unattainable. But we worked through it and this is where we ended up. The moose has been received very well and now is available on a variety of apparel items and is showing up on race cars all over Canada. The photos below show the moose on Scott Wildgust's 57 Chevy Pro Mod and Daniel Mercier's nitro injected dragster. Show your Canadian drag racing pride and go to NitroMoose for your very own moose. The car was in for paint in July and at the last minute we made some changes to show more of the blue. As the photos show it was a good decision and once again Steve Dekinga of SD Enterprises made me look good. When designing a paint scheme the painter can either make or break the design. Steve never disappoints and this time went above and beyond. The stripes and side features of the car are rendered to look like polished concrete as Joe is in the concrete business. There are some flames in the blue as well giving this paint job many layers. Congratulations to Joe and team for winning the WCPMA championship and good luck with the wicked new Camaro!

Once again, something a little different going on here at ID Motorsport Design. In the past all of the race track designs have been focused on the drag strip. Well now you can see Stu Wotypka's work on the CASCAR circuit as Shaun Polack of 26racing is now sporting an ID designed wrap. Shaun's great new sponsor Thompson Brothers Construction wanted something "Caterpillar" oriented as this is their choice of equipment in the field. With Shaun's help we came up with the idea of making the car look like a D10 Cat complete with tracks, blade and ripper. The final product turned out great and was received very well on it's debut. Shaun did well too finishing tenth in the race at Sun Valley Speedway.

As they say in the world of stock cars "rubbin is racin'" so Shaun's "Cat" did not finish unscathed. There were a couple big black "donuts" on the side when all was said and done. The nice thing about the vinyl wrap here is that repairs are inexpensive and easy. A nice way to keep the racecar looking great all season long.

Here is another trailer wrap from last fall. I posted some of the preliminary artwork for the back door in August but never did get any final pictures of it up. Here is a photo of the side along with the final artwork for the back door. This is a 45' trailer owned by Brent Harris from Edmonton. Brent runs the '33 Willys pictured and you can keep an eye on what he has going on at www.33willys.com

There is alot of detail to this illustration as is the case on all of the wraps I do. This one is detailed right down to the threads on the bolts of the wheelie bars. So now Brent not only turns heads at the track, but on the way there and everwhere he stops along the way!
